GLASS: AN ART TO DISCOVER
From June 15 to December 31, 2010
The Canadian Guild of Crafts is an active participant in the celebrations of Montreal, City of Glass 2010, presenting a selection of Quebec’s outstanding glass artists. Come and enjoy major works by: Ronald Labelle, Gilles Payette, Astri Reusch, Stephen Pon, Catherine Benoît, and Adeline Denis.
Ronald Labelle, co-founder of Espace-Verre and master in the fine craft of glass, presents blown glass and cast glass furniture.
Gilles Payette works with glass cast in sand moulds, to create remarkable artworks of varied colours and textures.
Astri Reusch, an internationally renown artist, presents giant solid glass lips that reference the fleshy lips of Buddha statues.
Stephen Pon leads us into his imaginary world with sculptures that feature “travellers driven by their instincts on imaginary vessels”.
Catherine Benoît creates vases and functional works in flamboyant colours that radiate passion and joie de vivre!
Adeline Denis makes magnificently coloured translucent glass jewellery, using unique lamp-worked beads that she forms with a torch.
A centenary organization, the Guild is dedicated to the promotion and exhibition of fine crafts, and proudly offers established and emerging artists a prestigious showcase in the heart of the Museum Quarter, among the prestigious galleries of Sherbrooke Street.
